Basics of Botanical Extraction

Botanical Extraction is the process of isolating and retrieving specific or active compounds from plants for later use. Our extraction & distillation equipment contributes high-quality solutions for use in various botanical extraction and filtration methods. Our specialization in microfiltration gives us a unique understanding of how to assist botanical processors achieve their extraction goals. From closed loop extractors and vacuum chambers to full rotary evaporator systems, we're here to help in every step from plant to concentrate.

Since plant materials are complex mixtures of different chemicals, the primary challenge of botanical extraction is separating the various compounds found in different parts of the plant and recovering the desired product. A typical botanical processing scheme can include a solvent extraction followed by winterization and filtration. From there, solvents can be recovered for the next batch and concentrates can be further modified into valuable end products.
